After much deliberation, we have decided on the name Antares. I can’t get over how beautiful he is!

I wasn’t planning on getting a betta for my new tank—oh well, meet Cal. He’s a sweetie, and I couldn’t leave him in that cup.

So I’m getting a betta fish for college...

Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:26 AM PDT

So I'm getting a betta fish for college since I don't have a roommate and don't wanna be entirely alone so I'm doing my research on why I need. After a bit I have a shopping list with everything I need to make sure the betta I get lives to be an old happy fish.

Then I bring up the price with my parents and they're like "you don't need all of that, you only need a tank, food and a net... oh you can also put in a gold fish if you want" and it suddenly clicked for me why so many of my fish would die growing up.

"I didn't have any of that stuff and my betta lived for two years" yeah and it was probably miserable in that half a gallon tank

Like, I'm getting the fish, not you, let me take care of it how I should.

My handsome new boy. He was living in the same pet store cup for about a month. He was lethargic and stressed on his first night. Now on day 2, he won't sit still, flares like crazy at his reflection, and built a huge bubble nest! He's like a whole new fish!
