This is paco i got him 2 days ago, he hasnt eaten since and he hides alot. What should i do?? ( the lights were only on so i could take a picture. Normaly he would hide under the piece of driftwood)

I'm considering axolotls. Could I get some advice?

I'm planning on a 40 gallon tank for them, and hoping to get a trio with gfp, golden albino, and melanoid axolotls. The room is cool so it's usually upper 60s. I know they need it cooler.

I have yet to cycle the tank, because it's being occupied (my beardie is getting a bigger tank). How picky are they with water quality? I have a turtle as well, are they messy eaters like them that need pellets? Or will they be able to do with feeders like earth and superworms?

What about decor as well? I'd want big decorations, but most are like $40 each or so. How do you decorate your tanks? I hear gravel is a no-no, so how does sand do? I want it to be a cool tank where each axolotl can hang out.

Anyways, whatever tips you have would be appreciated. It's probably gonna be a little over/under a month before I order one, so I do have time to work things out.

Hair loss in axolotl gills

Hello, I have 2 axolotls a Lucy and a golden albino Over the last 4-5 days I have noticed my Lucy has been losing some hair in her gills, I honestly don't know what I can be. My golden albino is doing just fine, I do water tests every day or 2. Just Did one today and the ammonia and nitrite is at 0 and the nitrate is at 10-15. They are both eating and pooping as they should. Temperature ranges around 65-67. I have a hang back filter and a small 10g sponge filter.. please give me suggestions on what I should do. Also I do 25-30 percent water changes every 7-8 days
