Posted: 21 Jul 2020 09:41 PM PDT Hello I am new to reefing, quickly loving it and spending all of my money. I've had the tank for 4 months and everything is stable. I have 2 clownfish, a firefish, and a coral angel beauty. Short spine urchin. Tuxedo urchin and blue hermit crabs. I just bought a Xenia and GSP from my local fish store to test with the coral beauty. While the light is on the coral beauty doesn't touch the corals and the hermit crabs don't go near them either. I have had the corals for 3 days. So far every night the Xenia dislodges from the superglue as soon as I turn the light off then falls off the live rock. It is in a low flow area and opens up while the light is on. I've reattached it to the live rock every morning but as soon as turn the light off it's detached within minutes. This is my first time with any coral and i do not know what to do. Any advice would be helpful. [link] [comments]
Question about pre-mixed saltwater. Posted: 21 Jul 2020 09:30 PM PDT Currently the way that I handle water changes, is I pre-mix saltwater and store it in a bucket. I run a powerhead in the bucket for 24 hours, then put a lid and store it. Doing it like this, my water sits for a week or more before it's used for a water change. (As I make 2 5 gallon buckets and only need 3 gallons for each weekly water change.) So what I do is both heat it to tank temperature, and run the powerhead for an additional hour before doing the water change in case of any additional settling of salt. My question is, is the additional powerhead mixing even necessary after the initial mixing after sitting for a while? Or am I wasting time and adding an unnecessary additional step when it only needs heating? [link] [comments]
