Does daphnia need heated water to live and breed?

I have some daphnia that showed up in my snail jar, they've been breeding and I'd like to move them to a tank. Do they need heating and filtration?

I have some stargrass in my walstad, when trimming am I able to just push the remaining roots/stems into the dirt and let it be instead of pulling up the stem?(they throw off wicked roots, don’t want to disturb soil/other plants more than necessary) if the question is confusing I can clarify below
