Random experiment was a success! Broken piece of sweet potatoe eye-vine has made an actual leaf and roots so far in my newly planted tank.

BREAKING NEWS: Planted Tanks Rule!

Posted: 15 Jul 2020 03:38 PM PDT

Ummm... just wanted to let y'all know: planted tanks rule. I'm planning a setup right now and just the research makes me so excited. It's like a garden - but underwater. Mind. Blown. (And I'm not even new to the hobby. Just mind continually blown with the coolness of it all :)

Keep on keepin' on with all those tanks!

Fish to the top every time i make a water change

Posted: 16 Jul 2020 01:39 AM PDT

Hello,

I have a fish tank (60 litter) since 3 months now, every parameters are ok (tested with band stripes).

Every week i remove around 15% of the water and replace it by tap water and add some conditionner. I also add nutritive liquid for my plants, and bacterias for the fish. I also trim the plants that overgrowed. I don't wash the filters to keep bacterias.

But every time i change water, fish get to the surface after a few hours, all shrimps are staying to the surface too.

I tested nitrite levels (with a JBL special test) and it's a little above the limit, but it has been much higer in the past and they weren't at the surface.

There is plenty of oxygen, the pump is very powerfull and the water throwed into the tank makes alot of bubbles.

Tests are fine..

Note: I also add osmotic water with the tap water since a few weeks, but it hasn't solve my problem.

Tips for growing dwarf hair grass from culture

Posted: 16 Jul 2020 12:48 AM PDT

Hi everyone!

So I've been thinking about growing dwarf hair grass from culture that I bought from Amazon for an established aquarium. I was planning on transferring my current fish to a smaller tank and reducing the water level to about three inches, where I would spread sprigs of the dwarf hairgrass across the substrate. If I kept my aquarium in the sunlight with adequate water, would I get faster dwarf hairgrass growth?

Please poke holes in my plan, I don't want to mess up!
