One time a person said '' Nobody feels helpless as an owner of a sick fish'' that's real because you can't do literally nothing about it and you only suffer. All this to say that today i lost one of my two fish it's one of a long family of fish of my house now it remain only one and if he dies i think I'm gonna quit for some time from fish and all other animals

Help with Goldfish Compatibility - Black Moors and Ryukins

Posted: 16 Jul 2020 10:49 PM PDT

I have for nearly a month owned a pair of Black Moors in a 150ish litre tank. I am looking to add an extra or two goldfish fish and was wondering if Black Moors and Ryukins can co-exist in the same aquarium. If not what would be a suitable goldfish candidate?

New fish being bullied?

Posted: 16 Jul 2020 03:02 PM PDT

I recently got a new goldfish and introduced him to my tank with two others yesterday. My female is chasing, pushing him around now when she wasn't yesterday but my male isn't bothered too much. Is there a reason only she is being aggressive or is it just coincidence? Re-establishing the pecking order?

Goldfish dying of ammonia poisoning

Posted: 16 Jul 2020 07:24 PM PDT

I have a goldfish with what I think is ammonia poisoning; he has black patches and lays at the bottom of the tank, occasionally swimming in spirals. I believe his issues are due to me leaving him too long in a hospital tank without a filter, although it's been a while since then. There is no ammonia in his current tank. I think he's too far gone, but are there any final actions I could take to try and save him?

Does anyone know what's wrong with my goldfish?

Posted: 16 Jul 2020 06:49 AM PDT

At first it was just that she couldn't swim upright very easily, and spent a lot of time upside down on the floor, hidden from view at the back of the tank. She was swimming fine and eating fine when she wanted to, so I thought it was just typical swimbladder problems. I did the usual thing of not feeding her.

It's been a week now and it's only got worse. She's lost interest in food, and barely comes out to swim anymore - just spending all her time upside down on the floor. I did a water test and everything looked fine, and i don't see anything physically wrong.. so i'm really stuck with figuring out what's wrong with her.

Honestly, she's pretty old now (12 years) so I'm thinking that euthanasia might be the best option, as she's been suffering for a week and has only got worse. I'm thinking of putting her to sleep with clove oil. But before I decide on that, is there any chance anyone can help me out? Thank you very much for any advice.

Egg bound gold fish? Can we help her?

Posted: 16 Jul 2020 05:34 AM PDT

Hi all,

Video of the fish in question here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnJUW5eZfCY

We've had a couple of goldfish for a couple of years now and a little while ago one of them bloated up quite large. Her (?) scales aren't poking out or anything and she has always been eating and acting normally, doesn't float to the top or struggle to swim.

We did some research and it sound like she may be egg bound? We couldn't get a separate tank for her due to living conditions but we recently moved so have purchased a bigger tank for them. We've separated her away from the other fish for now and shes got some vegetation and a heater (set to 23C) to hopefully encourage her to spawn.

She's been in there for around 4 days or so and there's been no change. We haven't fed her as I heard they can sometimes absorb the eggs if they haven't been fed.

Do any of you have any idea what may be the issue and is there anything we can do? Will putting the other goldfish in the tank help as he (?) used to chase her around poking her from behind and underneath a lot, could this encourage her to spawn along with the increased tempreture?

Would really appreciate some help.

Thank you!
