Are these white dots on my Fantails cheeks normal?

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 01:59 PM PDT

Here’s an update on the baby oranda that has been bullied by my koi when it was in the pond, I have moved it into a tank now and it seems to be doing better. People told me it had fun rot which I’m kind of worried about so if you have any suggestions please tell me.

Will a goldfish get lonely alone in a community setup?

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 10:24 PM PDT

I really would like a community tank with fancy goldfish in it. However, for sake of not overstocking, I've been thinking it would be best to have only one goldfish with the others. Would it be lonely without any of the same species? If so, I can definitely make room for two.

My goldfish often has new black spots. I change water often and have an airpump + filter. What else do I need to keep it alive?

HELP! Sick goldfish

I think she got stuck behind one of the decorations in our tank and shredded her fins.

Goldy is around 10 years old (rescue, so not sure on exact age). We've had her for around 5 or 6 years.

Found her about an hour ago like this behind one of the decorations. I have removed all hard décor and only left softer plastic plants in the tank. She is floating upside and seems to be in distress, almost 'gasping' with her mouth.

All the goldfish used to eat a sinking pellet diet, yesterday I switched them over to Repashy Super Gold, which is what's laying on the gravel.

She was perfectly fine yesterday, swimming and eating normally.

I treated the tank with some extra stress coat and some Melafix. Planning to do the Melafix for 7 days, and then do a water change, which is what the bottle says to do.

Lives in a 45 gallon tank with 3 younger goldfish (ryukin, black moor, and oranda). The ryukin is currently separately being given the repashy with some NeoPlex mixed in for a seperate buoyancy issue that he's had for a while at the recommendation of a fish vet. I know the tank is slightly overstocked, trying to convince my mom to let me upgrade them to a 75 gallon or more. Tank has been running for 6+ years.

Parameters all came back normal, other than nitrates being a little high since I need to do a water change. I tested with Tetra EasyStrips since that is all I have on hand right now.

Nitrates: 40 ppm

Nitrites: 0 ppm

Hardness: 150, I live in an area with harder water, so this is normal

Chlorine: 0 ppm

Alkalinity: 80 ppm

pH: 7.2

Should I take out all of the fake plants as well? Is there anything else I can do to help her? She is part of the family so I want to do everything that I can. I know she's lived a long life, and an even longer one than she would have had in her old situation, but I hate to see her go like this. Any and all help is appreciated, and I understand if anyone thinks she cannot be saved and should be euthanized, which I'm willing to do since I don't want her to suffer.

Can anyone help identify if these are breeding tubercles or something else? No different behavior with my red cap oranda, water is changed 25%-50% every 2 weeks, single fish in a 20 gallon tank. I touched it lightly and it feels like a hard texture, not soft.

Guys I got a goldfish and two friends today; and they keep chasing him. My heart is breaking. Is this normal at first?!

New fish isn't swimming - help!

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 08:54 AM PDT

So I'm super new to goldfish, I've got 2 goldfish (a fantail and pearlscale) and 2 Rosie barbs. The pearlscale was bought today, and put in the tank about 6 hours ago. I just noticed my barbs hassling him under a log toy. I moved the log and he didn't really move. I know you shouldn't touch them, but he wasn't moving and even when touched he just didn't move or attempt to swim away, it's like he just couldn't. All my other fish are fine, I finished an Ich treatment 3 days ago and did a water change yesterday. Tank is 20gal//23°. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my fish??

Gravel-safe Bottomfeeders?

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 03:46 AM PDT

Hi guys so,I'm on the way to my local pet store looking for a bottom-feeder that's both compatible with goldfish and my gravel-bottom tank.I know it's not optimal to keep goldfish in a gravel-bottom tank but I find that for me its easier to manage since I'm a beginner fish-keeper.My aquarium is already pretty nicely stocked with 2 goldfish and 6 zebra Danios in an admittedly small tank (I'm currently saving up for a larger tank).

I'd like a small variation of fish that will be okay with gravel.I honestly was hoping I wouldn't have to add any more fish so as to not add to the difficulty of being kept in a small tank. But the algea growth in my tank is starting to grown a bit out of hand especially in the gravel.Any suggestions?( Please don't hate on the fact that I've a small tank.I do regular water changes and always check-up on them.I'm saving up as much as I can to get them a bigger tank asap.Tank is almost 20g.
