Keeping goldfish outside in the heat Posted: 18 Jul 2020 10:52 PM PDT I've been wanting to have an out of ground goldfish pond for a long time now. The only issue I've been worried about is the temperature. I live in southern Texas and of course it can get to be over 100 degrees on some days. Ive heard of many people keeping outdoor goldfish in this climate, but there's not really a clear answer on preventing the water from getting too hot? Does anyone know a good way of keeping the water cool (preferably without a water chiller cause I ain't made of money, but I could get one if it came to it.) I keep the side view ranchu breed so keeping the temp below 85 is needed. [link] [comments]

Need help with swim bladder issue Posted: 18 Jul 2020 06:04 AM PDT So last week my oranda developed swim bladder disorder symptoms, at first I thought it was dropsy but there never was any pineconing. I let him in a quarantine tank with 5g/l of salt and he slowly recovered and could swim normally in the quarantine tank. Yesterday I put him back in his main tank and today it's worse than last week. Now he is completely upside down at the top of the tank and has barely enough strength to get back in a normal position. What could be the issue ? I know it's not food-related, I feed him with sinking pellets, repashy super gold and occasionnally with some veggies, and it's not related to my water parameters either (0 nitrite and 10mg/l nitrate). Could it be related to genetics or a more serious issue ? I really don't want to have to put him down. Thanks for the help [link] [comments]
