“Hmmm... I wonder what’s under here?”

Hello there. Total newb here never had an axolotl before. Is this normal behavior for them? It has just been chilling at the top of this plant for a few hours.

Advice for new owner please

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 05:53 AM PDT

Hey! I'm thinking about getting an Axolotl. Any advice would be much appreciated. How do you test the water and what do you use? How often do you change the water? What's the best way to clean the tank? What's a good sort of filter to use? Etc Thanks!

Help...I got algae!

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:39 AM PDT

New Axy owner here. Got my girl last month and everything was going well. I found these pellets on amazon and thought "wow, so much easier than nasty worms...I'll do these instead." Well she didn't eat them, they made my tank filthy and I've had issue since then. I removed 80% of the water and replaced it. However, since then I have this almost string looking white matter floating in the tank and sticking to the walls. What's stuck to the walls looks like feathers. I'm assuming this is algae... I tested the water and it seems mostly balanced. The nitrates are a tiny bit over normal but the water is hard..

How detrimental is a complete water change? I would like to scrub out the tank, get new plants and everything. However, I'm worried I'll lose what good bacteria I've built up and cause my little lady to be stressed. Anyone have this issue? What would you do?

Hello! I'm going to be getting an axolotl soon, and I could use a bit of information!!

Posted: 09 Jul 2020 09:57 PM PDT

Is somebody able to tell me signs that they are sick? That's the only thing I don't know much about, and it'd be great if someone could tell me so I know.

Posted: 09 Jul 2020 04:56 PM PDT

I found a 150 gallon tank and the guy is asking $150 for it. This includes all necessary equipment and the stand. I want to get it for my axolotls but I need someone to tell me if I'm crazy or if I should do it.

HELP!!! New Axolotl acting strange???

Posted: 09 Jul 2020 04:27 PM PDT

Just adopted this axolotl. She's about a year old and before getting her I had a cycled tank and all the levels were correct. Upon putting her in the tank she began to act strange and move super quickly in a panic. The temperature is fine too, I also drip acclimated her for thirty minutes before putting her in. Is this normal stress or should I be worried? Now she's just on her hide and her little gills look strange. Does anyone know what's going on?
