Ok better video, this is every night for as long as I watch TV then bubs swims around when I go to sleep. I swear he's very interested at the big colorful thing in the sky and seems to like it.

Moving house with axolotls

Posted: 03 Jul 2020 06:09 AM PDT

Hey guys, next month I am moving house once I am there I am going to be putting my axo's in a bigger tank. Annoyingly I doubt I'm going to be able to transport any of their current water so would be looking at using completely new water. Are there any important things to know or any good videos to watch that will make the transportation and change of the tank as safe as possible??

When do axolotls start to really grow?

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 06:33 PM PDT

Our axolotl is about 7 months. He really doesn't seem to be growing much at all? We don't skip water changes and his water is always right where it needs to be. He gets fed once a day 2-4 pellets. His pellets have about 46% protein. He's about 3 inches long and not very round. I feel like I'm doing something wrong?

Considering converting axie tank to planted

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 06:37 PM PDT

We currently have a 29 gallon axolotl tank that has fine sand substrate with some stone structures and a couple fake plants. As my smaller planted tank is doing good and I feel I've got the hang of it, I'm wanting to re-scape the axie tank and do planted. Any suggestions on plants/substrate/etc would be appreciated! I dont mind starting from the ground up!

Bloated lower jaw

Posted: 02 Jul 2020 02:07 PM PDT

My 6 year old axie, Pinky, has has been swollen for over a week now, it's especially noticeable in his lower jaw. I have another one, Brain, in the same tank who is fine, but I did a week of antibiotics regardless. They haven't helped at all. He is still eating as much as always, but barely moves around the tank (he was always pretty loafy though).

He is also pooping A LOT. There is poop everywhere after a day. At least I assume its poop... lots of little poop-colored crumbs with some bigger splotches. But in VAST quantities. Probably 10 times the other axie. I can't fathom how he is excreting that much of anything.

I've been doing regular water changes and have upped that to 1/3 water change every day since he became bloated. Ammonia/nitrite levels are at the high end of normal (they always are). Water is at 64°F year round. The other axie has been absolutely fine.

Our exotic animal vet is booked 2 weeks out from today but I have an appt booked... I don't want poor Pinky to suffer for 2 more weeks though.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm at a bit of a loss here.
