Oni having fun on the moss ball

A mystery snail escaped the tank and went on walkabout last night. The reef tank's lights showed his path.

Any advice on what to do about this poor snail’s shell damage?

Caught 2 bladder snails duking it out today... o_O

So, after six months I woke up to find that one of my mystery snails laid eggs. No idea if they’re fertile or what I’m going to do now. (Sorry for the terrible pictures)

Buncho ramshorns

Posted: 29 Jul 2020 12:33 AM PDT

Today a very nice person gave me some ramshorns. There are some pink and greyish brown ones which I assume are wild types. I am still getting the aquarium ready, so right now they are in a kritter keeper with some gravel, floating plants, apple, bell pepper, and cuttle bone. They have a heat lamp over them to try and keep the water warm, but I don't think it's working as well as I thought it would. The heater, light, and air pump are coming in five days and the substrate and sponge filter are coming between August 6-14. How should I care for them until I can fix tip the aquarium? How often should I change the water? Should I occasionally add warm water to keep their water a nice temperature? It is 80-90 degrees out for now though and I have my window open, my fan off, and the air grate covered up.

How to tell the difference between Apple and Mystery Snails?

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 07:58 PM PDT

I really want a mystery snail, but I have a heavily planted tank. One of my lfs sells Apple Snails as Mystery Snails (I know this because he showed me one of their smaller sized big ones) and there was no way it was a mystery snail. How the heck do I tell the difference, when their babies?

Tips for making snail come out of its shell?

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 03:55 PM PDT

I have a pagoda snail that has been its shell for over a week now. It has shown no sign of moving or eating, but it doesn't smell dead or appear dead. It ignores algae wafers completely until they dissolve and I have to take them out of the tank. I transferred the snail out of my 20 gallon and into a small 1 gallon to quarantine it yesterday but it still hasn't moved. Is there anything I can do to check if it's alive besides the smell test? And is there anything I can do to make it come out of its shell?

(Id prefer to not have it in the 1 gal for long as there's no heating or filtration)

Nerite snails never come out?

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:28 AM PDT

I have two snails I bought 4 or 5 days ago. I acclimated them to the tank as I would my fish and placed them on a rock with a lot of algae. They moved inside the rock. Since then I have seen one come out for less than a minute before going back inside only once yesterday. There is no algae on the inside rock. Is this normal behaviour or are they sick? My parameters are good 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 15ppm nitrate and my cory cats and mystery snail are both doing well.

Septaria Porcellana with Mystery Snails?

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:26 AM PDT

So I've been looking into other snails that I could keep with my three mystery snails. I was thinking nerites at first until I discovered Septaria Porcellana, and read how you dont have the nuisances of eggs and they still clean algae like nerites. Has anyone ever kept them in an aquarium with Mystery snails? Also does anyone have any good care links or books I can check out I've been looking online but all I can find is sites saying they have the exact care another snails. If I do get them it would be a snail only tank as I dont plan to get any fish or other creatures besides snails. And I definitely have enough to supplement Calcium I currently dose liquid calcium use argonite in my substrate and offer Wonder shells or calcium blocks(whatever I have on hand) my tank is established and has plenty of algae for the septaria porcellana. Also I only have three mysterys and dont plant to let them have more than one clutch and I already have homes lined if I do raise one clutch so they wont be around for very long and I plan to keep maybe two babies max from that clutch(but none of my mystery are big enough to even worry about that yet lol) Sorry I know this is a long read, I just like to be prepared before I make a decision on any animals I keep.

Do you acclimate your nerite snails?

Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:05 AM PDT

I always wondered if I can plop my nerites into my other aquariums if I see some algae to clean or if I need to acclimate them every time. Water parameters are somewhat the same, PH and water temp differ a bit.
