- Moonstone is finally more comfortable and is out exploring her new home
- First ramshorn snail eggs
- Woke up to my first mystery snail cluch!
- What breed is my snail?
- Mama and son
- Thinking...
- Why does my snail keep trying to escape? And how do I stop her?
- This is my big girl!
- Help identifying types if snails please?! I found a pic with the 2 different types of snails I have! They were all sold to me as "mystery" snails but they're different colours and so are their egg clutches! Does two colors equal 2 types?
- Help identifying type of snail please? My thumb is there for size comparison. Is he a Chanelled Apple Snail? He was sold to me as a "mystery" snail and laid vibrant pink eggs! I posted an earlier pic.
- Please help identify type of snail?! I bought this one as a "mystery" snail. I also have what might be Channelled Apple Snails in the same tank. I'd like to know what the eggs will hatch to be.
- This is my mystery snails second clutch of eggs, how can I tell if they‘re fertile?
- Is my snail injured? Is this mantle collapse? Hanging head way out of shell to one side
- Snorklin’! Probably a common sight for y’all, but new to me!
- Ramshorn snail edema? He is so swollen, he can’t withdraw into his shell. Anyone experience this before? (Details in my reply post below)
- my snail gave birth??

Why does my snail keep trying to escape? And how do I stop her? Posted: 21 Jul 2020 08:33 PM PDT Okay, so my snail has now escaped twice. Once for about 5 hours, the next time for about 3 DAYS! I taped up every opening on that tank and I couldn't find her today and she was inside my HOB filter! There was no way for her to get out, but it's obvious she is trying to find a way to escape. The water parameters are all good (no ammonia or nitrites, 5ppm nitrate), and the water level is low enough. It's a 5 gallon tank, she was in a 10 which she never escaped from, but I had to treat the 10 with a not snail safe medicine, so I moved her into the 5. She never had problems in the 10, but the other snails (which are bigger) are in a different 5 gallon and have made no escape attempts. Is there anything I can do to try and get her to stay in the frickin tank?? I know she probably has to lay eggs (or thinks she does, she's the only mystery in the tank), but there is a perfectly good lid on top of the tank to lay them! Any advice is appreciated! Posted: 21 Jul 2020 12:50 PM PDT I got my pagoda snail about 4 days ago along with a black devil snail. My pagoda was pretty much only on my spider wood for the first 2 days but then i saw it doing something on the gravel. I touched it and it shot back up into its shell and hasn't moved since then but when I picked it up an hour later there was still gravel kind of in its shell. It hasn't moved at all for about 3 days and the shell now looks empty. These are my first snails so I have no idea what's going on with them. I called my local pet store and they said to check the trap door to see if its alive and try to pull it but I can't reach it. I have also been checking it for smell daily and there is none. Today there was only one baby snail in the tank that I can see but I guess they're normally supposed to give birth to many. There might be more that pop up throughout the day. So what should I do with the baby snails and how can I tell if my snail is still alive if it hasn't moved and the shell appears empty? I'm going to put a piece of baby spinach in the tank soon and hopefully the baby snails go on to it so i can transfer them to a new aquarium to be safe from my betta. I'm also hoping that the pagoda will come out of its shell to eat it. Background: I have a betta fish in the tank but he completely ignores the black devil snail and ignores the baby snails that i can actually see and i've never seen anything happen with the pagoda that I can see too. It's a 20 gallon tank with two amazon swords with root tabs and java moss on my spider wood and rock. The pH is around 8 and there is no ammonia and the nitrates and nitrites are fine when I check at my local pet store and test at home. I'm going to attach some pictures of the snails and my aquarium. If you have any questions about anything let me know! [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Jul 2020 08:30 AM PDT How often do you guys feed your mystery snails, and what do you feed them? =) I've read decent things about just the packaged snail food for snails and shrimp. I've also heard that you can dice up veggies to put in the tank as well, but I wasn't sure about that. Also, do you guys put in the calcium stuff for their shells? I've heard that recommended, especially if it's just a betta and a snail together. [link] [comments]
