Posted: 13 Jul 2020 11:59 AM PDT So recently our two mystery snails have laid 3 clutches in the span of about 2.5 weeks. One clutch hatched last night giving us about ~115 snail babies. I'd love to try to sell them when they get bigger but dont know where or how. Any advice or options? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jul 2020 10:38 AM PDT Hello all, I recently just got my first snails, one blue and one yellow mystery snail. The yellow one perked up after only a few hours in my tank (which is a 10 gallon, planted and cycled), but my blue dude hasn't come out of its shell since I got it on Thursday. I know it is alive, and it seemed healthy at the shop and was stuck to the wall when the employee took him out of the tank. Is it normal for a new snail to "sleep" this long? It hasn't come out to eat at all. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jul 2020 10:06 AM PDT I'm thinking they are rabbit snails, but I'm not sure. I like to be sure of the species of my pets to ensure I am taking care of them. These were collected from freshwater streams in middle TN. The longest shell is about 3/4 inch. I've included an album below with the best pictures I could manage. Help is appreciated!!! My mystery snails died and I don’t know why. Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:58 AM PDT Hey all, I was wondering if anybody had any insight as to why my Mystery snails have all died(not at once but over the course of a couple weeks)? My tank is a five gallon tank with lots of plants and one betta. At one point I had three smaller mystery snails in there as well. I fed them every other day or so with algae pellets. On top of that I have some brown algae that grows on the glass occasionally so I feel like they had plenty of food. My ammonia and ph levels were always just fine and within the normal parameters. My water was kept at about 78-81 degrees Fahrenheit. I never witnessed my betta acting aggressively towards the snails, he mostly ignored them. I did water changes once every week or week and a half, while leaving at least 1/3 of the original water or so. I'm really just at a loss as to why they all died. Their shells looked fine so I don't think it was a disease or anything. My only thought is that I do have a small amount of detritus worms in my tank(that I find when I do water changes) but I wouldn't think that they would harm the snails. Any advice is welcome! I'd love to try snails again, but not if I'm just going to end up killing the poor things. [link] [comments] |
