Get yourself a friend who supports your hobby even if it’s “weird”

I'm 21 years old, and I turn 22 very soon. I've had aquariums for as long as I can remember, the first one I can acknowledge I was maybe 10 years old with a 25g in my room (which my mother did the maintenance). I've always loved having fish, but being a young person in the hobby it's hard for other teens/ young adults to understand. Most of my friends love going to bars, Tiktok and are boy crazy. Many of my friends get mad when it's "water changing day" or when I ask to run to the pet store to buy some supplies.

But being a young person, who suffers from anxiety this is one of the most peaceful hobbies I can imagine. Also knowing that I have something that depends on me to get up each day, turn on the lights, feed and provide some attention makes me feel some sense of importance in this world. I honestly thank the fish keeping hobby, because I don't know where I would be without it. It's something many others do not understand, including my family, because to most people they are "just fish". But to me it's more then that. Anyways, I could go on and on, but the main part of my story is that my best friend got me submersible RBG lights for my birthday. This is probably the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever gotten me, and it brought me to tears because I could finally see someone who understands me as who I am. To have a friend that doesn't care if what you do is considered "weird", and to support you in every way because they know that makes you happy means the absolute world. Here's a pic of my new lights in my 55g! Aquarium Lights

Finally got around to rescaping the 180 and added a couple monstera to the wood to help with nitrates.

My new 21G rimless tank! Gonna have blue neos in here, my male guppies that have been pulled from my breeding colony, and a blue panaque pleco. In love with this tank already, can't wait for it to grow in a bit. Let me know what you think!

My friend took this pic of her daughter at the GA aquarium and it kinda looks like she’s attempting to eat a couple of fish.
