I got a 55 gallon reef tank. About a year ago and it's just been there in my living room I haven't done a water change I'm a while and yeah there is 2 fish a damsel and a clown both nonagressive and have been there since the start I want to add more stocking as it's getting boring in my tank all help is awesome

How to run carbon in a canister filter?

So I have a top fin c60 canister filter for my aquarium. I had numerous feather caulerpa in the tank which got eaten by my Foxface rabbitfish and thus died. This along with slight over feeding by me lead to a yellow tint to the water. I got two media bags and some carbon and replaced the carbon sponge in the third tray of my filter. It's been nearly a day and no noticeable difference. What am I doing wrong?
