Goldfish - Aquariums - I've been calling him pig, so I guess, meet pig(again)! If things go right he'll be in the 75g with the two piglets next week.

The potatoes have been set up for 1 week now. Their favorite thing to do is swim between the bubble columns ☺️

Goldfish eyes are puffy after being sick Help/Advice

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 10:52 PM PDT

My goldfish tank recently has had insanely high amounts of ammonia and nitrates in the tank which unfortunately has caused him to have "the bends" for about 5 days and laid curled up on the ground of his tank. Unbelievably, after so many water changes and ammo lock treatment, he is cured. The ammonia level is practically 0 at this point but the nitrate levels are still up and somehow the ph was low, then increased to a safe point, and is now low again. We're having him moved from a 10 gallon tank to a 29 gallon tank in the next week or two. Unfortunately, his eyes have have seemed to gotten puffy, one a little worse than the other. It's not anything crazy but it's definitely noticeable and I think it might be getting worse or at least not better. He likely injured it but I'm wondering if there was something else that caused it or if there's any treatment I should use. I've been giving him Lifeguard All in One Treatment for 6 days which should prevent bacterial infection but it recommends not to keep the filter in the tank but I had to because I was changing so much water so I added an extra tablet every other day. I heard aquarium salt could help but I'm not sure. Any suggestions at all would help.

My goldfish keep dying! Help please!

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:27 PM PDT

I've lost 6 gold fish in the past 2 weeks. They lay on the bottom of the tank and shake uncontrollably then stop and just lay on there side. They lose there coloring to. All the water parameters are exactly where they should be. And 4 were in a 55 gallon an d2 were in a 40 gallon. I've treated them with paragaurd, melafix, aquarium salt, prazi pro. And nothing is helping.

I have a random fish in my pond, and I have no idea what it is. All I have is two ranchu goldfish. I’m pretty sure it’s not a tadpole, but I don’t know how it got there

What do you guys think is going on with my Goldie? He’s been like this for a few days where hell eat and then go back to this spot. He does it far less now but still does it nonetheless

Fantail Goldfish with red veins on tail?

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 01:51 PM PDT

Recently I noticed my fantail that ive had for 8 months started to get red veins on his tail. Water parameters are perfectly fine. (2-3 veins, only visible from an angle)

0 Ammonia

0 Nitrite

10 Nitrate

I do water changes every 3-4 days around 25%

Filter is a Aqueon 50 Gallon Whisper Filter (Cycled tank)

Hes in a 29 gallon, upgrading to a 40 gallon next week.

He eats fine and swims constantly and picks at rocks for food and acts normally? What could the issue be?

Getting into Goldfish for my First Time!

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 03:32 AM PDT

Firstly, I hope this is the right place to post this.

Hi! I'm an avid fish keeper, so I'm no newbie to cycling and illness etc... But I've never actually had goldfish of my own. I was a sort of godparent to my best friends lil goldies, and I do know a bit. But there's a few things I want to be clear on.

Firstly, they need sand as a substrate, or none at all because they will suck up gravel and choke I believe.

Secondly, I believe there's a rule for gallons with Fancies. 1 per 20 gallons right? Or is that for just some goldfish? I know for a fact that shubunkins and comets get big. About a foot (correct me if I'm wrong!) or so full grown, but I only want those chunky fancies that I love to look at. So would something around 100 gallons be alright for maybe 5 fish?

And lastly I was wondering the most recommended way to get my fish! I was looking locally, but in my area it seems difficult to find a nice LFS that has what I'm looking for. I'm considering ordering online, but I'm really picky, and want to pick the fish I want, not what the shipping people pick for me.

Thanks for reading!

Tough to take a clear photo while he’s moving - what are those three red spots in his fin? Injury? Or something worse?

Tank Temp and Growth

Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:39 AM PDT

Hello, I've been reading articles that suggest in early life - say less than a year - a higher temp aids in growth. For example - my tank at room temp is around 70 degrees. Would boosting it to around 74 help my chonker grow?
