My crayfish recently passed away I'm not sure what species but it was around 4 inches long brown and black and had a shade of blue on it's legs.

It recently passed away and I'm not sure why in the morning it ate a algae pill like normal and we went away for a couple hours and I just look over and it's laying on its side not moving I thought maybe it was shedding but it had no cracks no nothing so I thought it died and I was getting it out and it slowly moved it's pinchers and legs sort of moves his hairs on his mouth so we put it in a separate tank with air filter and it passed away and it stopped moving it had air the pH and tempature was all normal it had food every other day and a lot of times are some of the food that was on the ground. And it was fine any answers? I can't find anything

Looking for advice before getting my first crayfish.

Hi everyone,

I been seeing really cool pictures and videos of people's crayfish and they seem to have really cool personalities. I have neo shrimp in a 15 gal tank and another 120 gal with a mixture of fish so I'm not completely new to the hobby. I have read that my cray will need his own tank so I am setting up a 10 gal to get it cycling. If anyone has time and wants to pass on some advice I'd really appreciate it, I want to make sure to give my new pet the best home I can.

Any advice on where to buy one?

Do they do better with sponge filters like shrimp or will they need something like an aqua clear?

I was planning on using a sand or plant substrate. Is there something that's better for them?

Do they enjoy live plants or will they cut them off?

Any specific 'kinds' for lack of a better word that need specific care that a beginner should avoid?

Any other tips from people who love these little guys??

Thanks so much!!

My crayfish's eggs are gone.

Hey guys, I had a blue crayfish who had eggs on her for about 3-4 weeks. She mostly stayed in her cave for that time period, only coming out to grab algae wafers. I saw her out of her cave recently and the eggs were gone. Plz help.
