Aquatic Snails Always assumed it was my betta who was uprooting my plants (since I’ve witnessed him do it a few times) but now I’m starting to think Isabelle might have something to do with it.

any tips on helping repair/strengthen mystery snail shell?

Posted: 31 May 2020 10:05 PM PDT

hello everyone! sorry for formatting in advance, i'm on mobile. yesterday i got my first two mystery snails and i love them. they both seem very healthy, they made themselves at home in their new tank pretty quickly and have been exploring the tank all day. the bigger of the two is about an inch and a quarter long, and he's very active. however, i didn't realize until i brought him home that his shell seems to have a bunch of damage on it. there's a bunch of cracks, and the front opening of the shell is so thin that you can see through it. i picked him because he seemed the most active out of all the snails at the pet store i got him at, so i'm pretty sure he's healthy, but i was wondering if there was anything i could do to help possibly strengthen his shell back to a good condition? if needed, i can provide pictures of his shell. thanks anyone for any help!

Baby clams hitchhiking on my wild caught mystery snails?

Posted: 31 May 2020 07:08 PM PDT

I found some invasive mystery snails by a river and brought them home to live in a tank. Today some unexpected guests started wriggling around in the tank; by their appearance and because I found these snails by quite a lot of clam shells, I suspect these are newborn clams.

Should I remove them or let them be? I don't mind more mollusk diversity in my tank, but I don't want to keep them if they could be a menace to the snails.

Is my snail’s shell discolored?

My mystery snail seems to be changing colors?

Pics here. The body and shell are more pale than I remember them being before. I have had her two months since buying at Petco. Also, how bad a shape is her shell in? Her shell already had cracks and some erosion when I got her but I think those defects closest to the opening of her shell are getting worse.

I feel her algae wafer, cucumbers, and kale. pH is 7.4, water is hard, and I supplement with mineral balls

How do I pick him up without hurting him?

Posted: 31 May 2020 12:16 PM PDT

I was cleaning my fish tank today and put my snail in a square container so he didn't get sucked up by the rock vac, but he's staying in the corner where I can't slide him off of the side to pick him up. It's been a couple hours and he is just refusing to move! I don't want him to get hurt and I don't know how to pick him up out of that spot without hurting him :((

Dead Snails??

Posted: 31 May 2020 08:30 AM PDT

Hi... if any experienced snail people could help answer this, I'd be really grateful.

Picked up three assassins yesterday- I remember seeing one of them move while in the bag that I transported them in. But after I put them in the tank, I didn't see any move for the rest of the day.

(The aquarium a 10 gallon betta tank, with a few java ferns. Temperature around 26c, ph 7.2 . I got the assassins after the betta ate my cherry shrimp)

Googled it yesterday, and apparently this has happened to other people before, but the snails moved during the night- it's the next day and all of mine were still exactly where I'd placed them.

What should I do? How do I know if they're dead? I smelled them, if I hold them really close to my nose there's a faint smell. Does that mean they're dead?

I think at least one of them might have come to me dead because there's some mold or moss or something growing on the shell.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Looking for a Blue Mystery

Posted: 31 May 2020 07:01 AM PDT

Hi all,

I'm looking to get a Blue Mystery shipped to me in Texas. I had one that I loved (Hector) but he passed several months ago. My tank (a planted 10 gallon with Betta and Nerite) produces so much algae, I really need a second buddy for eating it all up. Anyone have a youngish one?

TIA!
