Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:35 PM PDT I am looking for a chemical or maybe a portable filter for temporary to keep my fish alive until I fix below. Unless general consesus is they will be fine? I work a lot of hours so not sure how soon I can get this handled. ~5,000gallon koi pond. Been in service for ~17 years mostly issue free. Dad build it and moved out thru divorce about six years ago. Recently noticed not as much convection in the pond as normal and did not pay it much mind as I have not been out enjoying it much due to working a ton of hours. So I come to find out the tertiary filter has popped out of the ground slightly(has happened before due to pond being low and the super high ground water here) but no enough that it can't be in service while I do repairs. Pond was admittedly about 3" low(total 4' deep) so I filled it to have enough height for filter flow. Well water is still not getting to the pump as it should. Prescreen basin only fills to just below inlet invert but with pump on can not keep the outlet pipe covered. All filters are clarifiers(hopper shape), 1-2 & 2-3 transfer near top. 3 drains at the bottom through a riser pipe to prevent it from being drained too much and popping out of the ground. That pipe seems to be working so I trimmed it as a make shift to try to get more head to the pump but no difference. Guessing there is a clog and I did find plastic pieces from a filter screen in the prebasic of the pump(can't open it even with a custom wrench and drain plug open with the pump closed off from the system). Edit: talked to the brother of a chick I used to be FWB with. Got it going-ish. Seemed the be a lack of prime + air intrusion. Removed pump from system at unions and was able to get the lid off the basin(really put up a fight!) And put fresh teflon on the nipple between basin and pump(was dripping slowly and teflon was bunched up). Long road ahead though. [link] [comments] | ||
Posted: 03 Jun 2020 01:55 PM PDT Can anyone help me identify these bumps on the side and dorsal fin of this koi fish? I've read through some potential diseases and can't narrow it down. Sorry for the image quality photo taken in the middle of the day. Edit: Fish is behaving and eating normally. [link] [comments] |
