Both were advertised as Amanos. Any idea what they are?

Not strictly shrimp, but for those of you with Thai micro crabs, how do you make sure they’re fed?

Caring for Cherry Shrimp ?

Posted: 22 May 2020 01:06 AM PDT

Hello!

I have a 20gal planted tank with guppies (2adults and at least 15 fry). I recently started getting interested in shrimp. And I currently have two amano shrimp and recently bought three cherry shrimp. The last time I got a cherry shrimp it died two days later. I'm assuming its because I added him too quickly or my adult guppies decided to attack him (which I doubt since they've shown no interest in the amano shrimp and the cherry shrimp was intact when i found him dead).

I probably need to get more cherry shrimp to successfully start a colony of them. And obviously the babies are at risk of getting eaten when born but I'll try my best to save them. I think the cherry shrimp that I bought are currently still young and can't have babies themselves yet. To keep an eye on them to make sure they adjust well i have the 3 cherry shrimp in a mesh breeder.

When do you think it'll be safe for me to release them? Do you think they'll be in danger of the same fate as the previous cherry shrimp?

Thank you in advance!!

My first ever shrimp enjoying some moss! They were sold by Petco as "rainbow shrimp" but I'm pretty sure they are cherries. Or are they another species of Neocaridina?
