Help with breeding mystery snails

Posted: 02 May 2020 06:54 PM PDT

I have a 90gl tank that I'm trying to breed my mystery snails in and it has a 2in trim across the top and I have the water currently sitting at the bottom of that trim. Is that enough space for them or has anyone come up with a method of how much space they need per gallon?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mystery snails closed up?

Posted: 02 May 2020 04:27 PM PDT

Hello,

I just got a second mystery snail to add to my tank. It's a 5.5 gallon tank that has been running smoothly for a couple months with a betta fish and a mystery snail.

However, a day or so after I added the second snail, both him and the original snail closed up and have been sitting at the bottom of the tank without moving. Nothing has changed, the temp and everything has remained constant, and the water parameters are still ideal. I did a 20-25% water change today (I do them weekly) in hopes that it would help but it's been a few hours and they still haven't opened up.

Does anyone know what this might be? Are they okay?

Mystery snails

Posted: 02 May 2020 04:24 PM PDT

So my wife has a 5 gallon aquarium. When we first set it up last year, we got her a few fish and 2 mystery snails. The one snail was just hitching a ride on the other snail and that's why we grabbed them. A few months later, BABE SNAIL! Within about 2-3 weeks, both adult snails passed. Within another week or so, the babe left us also. About 3 months later, holy shit another baby! Once again, this snail left us. So now, again almost 3 months later, yet another baby snail! It has now been 2 weeks and low and behold, another baby. So, my question is... where in the fuck are these guys coming from! We do not mind them at all! We are just confused on the time periods in between new snails.

Sorry for the long read and thanks in advance!

Necessities for common snails found in lakes?

Posted: 02 May 2020 11:39 AM PDT

So my father and I decided to get 6 snails (half of which are going to a friend) the other day so we went to a lake and got a few.

We have a temporary storage container that's about 5.4 liters with bunch of rocks with moss on them.

We're looking to take care of these snails but we aren't 100% on what we need due to every time we search something up, they show the exact opposite of what we ask (it's weird I know). Please help us out. We're very new to this sort of creature and we want the best for them. :)

Edit: If we feel like we can't handle this or if they're not doing well, we will let them go. We're not going to keep them captive in a place where they're not doing well.
