Taking care of baby mystery snails? Posted: 26 May 2020 02:19 PM PDT Hey there! I have 3 mystery snails that I've seen climbing all over eachother and possibly mating. My suspicions were confirmed because this morning I discovered a pretty large clutch on the underside of my tank's lid. I am very interested in keeping it. I have tried to hatch 2 clutches before using the sandwich container and damp paper towel method, but they were infertile so no luck. I have a couple questions about taking care of the eggs and the new babies when they hatch. Feel free to answer what you can, and thank you in advance! • I was originally planning on keeping the babies (when they hatch) in a plastic floating breeder box until they're big enough to sell. Should I invest in a 2+ gallon growout tank for them instead or do you think they'll be okay? • I really don't want them to hatch in the tank they were laid in, as I have a betta and an African dwarf frog who might try to eat them. Right before they hatch when the clutch looks all gross and dark, can I remove the clutch and put them in their new tank/breeder box and crumble it so they can come out? • What foods would be best for the babies? I have access to algae thins, cucumbers, kale, and green beans. • At what age should I give/sell them to my lfs? When they are dime sized or bigger? The lfs in particular takes really good care of their snails. How much should I ask for per snail if they want to buy them from me? [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 May 2020 06:45 AM PDT Got both tanks cleaned before 10am! I usually do them later in the day so I'm feeling super accomplished and fishies will have more time to settle down before dinner 😊 taking control of the little things has been my saving grace through this pandemic. If a baby mystery snail gets buried will they find their way out? Posted: 26 May 2020 11:00 AM PDT I need to change the rocks in my aquarium they're honestly just an eye sore and I can't stand them any more. I have a bunch of black aquarium sand that I want to mix with my pink rocks that are already in there I'm trying to get all of the baby mystery snails out and I think I got most of them but there so small and I know I haven't gotten all of them, last time I counted I had 127 and I only have about 70 out of their tank right now, I can not for the life of me find them if I put the black sand in it and mixed it up would that kill them? Could they find their way back to the top? [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 May 2020 08:01 AM PDT I bought a nerite snail yesterday from a local petsmart. I'm sorry to say they had quite a few dead snails in their tank. Thankfully some were alive and the one I brought home has been busy scooting around eating algae. Later I found out that they can have parasites and mine does have a white spot on his shell that looks like it could be that. I've never kept snails and I'm concerned since the conditions he came from were so poor. Should I dose the tank with fritz paracleanse? Or leave it be? I don't want to hurt him. snail snail 2 [link] [comments] |
