- New to the thread. I had a question on Koi purchased online. Any one have experience and is this a bad idea? Any recommended sellers? Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question.
- How long after treating for costia do the koi return to their normal feeding?
- My fish are lethargic, laying on the bottom. Not eating. Change was sudden. More info in post.

| How long after treating for costia do the koi return to their normal feeding? Posted: 21 May 2020 03:33 PM PDT I had costia in my pond and I successfully treated them. I was wondering how long until they regain their appetite for food. The weather is in the 90s regularly before the outbreak they were eating like pigs. I guess they are still pretty stressed from the medications. [link] [comments] | ||
| My fish are lethargic, laying on the bottom. Not eating. Change was sudden. More info in post. Posted: 21 May 2020 01:40 PM PDT I have a well-established koi pond with about 13 fish. Most are goldfish, 2 are koi which are about 12-13 inches long. Pond is about 650 gallons and has vigorous aeration and several plants(in floating baskets to keep the koi off them). About 4 days ago, I noticed a white film on top of the pond that broke up quickly. Whole event was about an hour. At the same time, I noticed that the plants had been disturbed one of the floating baskets was upturned as well. Since that event, the fish have been hiding in the rocks near the bottom of the pond. The larger fish will lay on the bottom for minutes at a time not moving. I haven't been able to count all of the fish since they're all hiding. I suspect that a predator may have been in there but got spooked when it tipped the basket. To complicate matters, I added a new fish and plants(water hyacinth)about 2 weeks prior and I'm paranoid that I may have brought something bad into the pond. I treated with stress coat when adding him. I've used algaefix earlier in the year, but not within the past 2 weeks. I should also mention that I lost a fairly large fantail over the winter despite the netting over the pond. Some additional info:
I'm thinking they're just spooked and all of the other occurances are just normal pond things that I'm hypersensitive about, but one of my large koi(white) is barely moving and laying on the bottom. Maybe it's too cold? Is there any reason to test for nitrates if I tested for phosphates, nitrites, ph, and ammonia?
