Potential First Time Salt Waterer? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 11:02 PM PDT Hey there! I just found this sub. I grew up my whole life with freshwater fishtanks, and after a few years of not having any now, I'm super interested in starting over and getting salty. Ive been doing research but obviously, there's a lot to all of this. I'm interested in only having a 10 gallon (I understand this can be a controversial size for salt tanks/beginners, but I'm fairly responsible and have prior fish tank experience in general). I would consider getting a 20 if it's really necessary but I would really prefer a 10 gallon. I would ideally like a clownfish (2 would be great but I understand they can be territorial and perhaps a 10 is too small for them... do you think 2 would be ok?) Questions include: Do I need a protein skimmer? Are saltwater tanks really so high maintenance that they require to be cleaned multiple times/once a week? (For example, my freshwater tank would look great for months with routinely just checking on it) If I have a regular filter, is a circulation fan thing really necessary for such a small tank? Can i have a oxygen bubble decorator? Any other additional advice / comments are super helpful. I haven't purchased anything yet as I want to make sure I do proper research, I want to make sure I can create a happy home and life for the fellas but after researching online I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed/like so many sites have over complicated the entire process. Happy vibes to u [link] [comments] |
