- Found this on a hike, I love how nature perseveres!
- Took my three year old out to the mess the power company always leaves under the transmission line out back (gee, thanks for the swarms of mosquitos) and stuck some muck in a jar. Lots of life, no idea what any of it is. Cheese cloth on top, re: mosquitos.
- 1st naturally sourced, all gathered from the banks of a local lake
- pH was 8+ so I did a water change. Swarms of these things suddenly appeared. Any ID?
- Does anyone know what these bugs are they are on the green plant? They have a thing moving really fast on their back side.
- This windowsill project is doing so much better than my expectations.
- How to get started?
- Water is getting dirty!
- Wriggly boi in a curled up Lillypad.
- Quarantine has me bored but feeling creative
- 24 hours in. Added more water. Sourced from the drainage creek beside the house
- What plants look best in a fish bowl type jarrarium?
- mosquito larvae in ecosphere?
- Not really in a jar, but found these in a tank i set up of just creatures found in the retention pond behind my house. Anybody know what these are?

Posted: 29 Apr 2020 07:46 AM PDT Hello! I want to start a new hobby and this seems perfect to me! I'm not really sure how to get started though, Right now making an aquatic jarrarium isn't really an option for me so I've opted for a terrarium So what exactly do I do? I read about the layering but that's most of my knowledge in the moment. How can I make sure the ecosystem will thrive? Any help would be appreciated [link] [comments] | ||
Posted: 29 Apr 2020 07:13 AM PDT Hey all, my jar is about a month old and at first, the creek water I used cleared up in a couple days but now it is impossible to see through. I'm not sure if it is just algae but it's a brown color that has lots of particles and clumps floating around the water and collecting at the top. Not sure how I should go about this! What plants look best in a fish bowl type jarrarium? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 03:18 PM PDT as in title! found a nice round fish bowl container around and i'm itching to do a little walstad in it (i have one running already and it's one of my favorite things to watch lol) with maybe some neocaridina davidi shrimp once they grow up from my current walstad and obviously snails. i'd like to plan the planting for this one a little more deliberately, my current one is full of (thriving) cuttings from my other tanks and I'm not gonna lie, i'm kind of getting sick of seeing the same plants lol. looking for low/no tech suggestions, low to med light, stem plants and foreground plants and all that jazz. not sure what looks good in round containers, so i'd appreciate any suggestions or advice! thanks in advance y'all! Posted: 28 Apr 2020 04:48 PM PDT i can't tell if they're the little dancing worms or mosquito larva—can't get a super good picture. anyways, will they eat the creatures inside? what do i do? i don't want to ruin my ecosystem, but there's 3-4 of them I've spotted so far and it seems difficult to cleanse them from the jar. i also just don't want mosquitoes to get out. thanks!
