I made this tiny bowl for my work desk, with trimmings from my main shrimp bowl.

My kiddo and I filled a Mason jar with water/muck from a local lake

Made my first terrarium today! Moss, soil, and everything collected locally. I’m pretty pleased with it myself, going to see how this one works out, then I’m buying a bigger container for the next build.

Hey all! Long time lurker, first time poster. This is my first official jarrarium and I was wondering if I should seal it? I’m guessing not because lack of airflow, but I’m totally new to this and have no idea! Thanks in advance!

Would it be possible to use this with it having such a narrow opening?

My first! The rare occasion that I find moss in So. Cal, I must jar it!

I started a pond jar and it... died.

I started a pond jar on April 1, just as soon as the ice melted. I gathered up some pond water and leaves (I couldn't get past them as the water was too cold to dig). At first the Jar was full of life, with wee little sprimp and these larvae-looking (but most likely not actual larvae) flat insects. Then about days 6-7 they all died/disappeared. We're now finishing day 13 and there are no signs of life, flora or fauna.

Do I hang on for a month or two or take another trip to the pond?
