Goldfish sitting on the bottom of the tank after 90% water change Posted: 06 Apr 2020 02:04 PM PDT This is somewhat long, I have two fancy goldfish in a 60 gallon tank. I typically do a 50% water change twice a month but I ran out of test strips and, due to this virus, I can't go out to get more. So Ive been doing 25% every week just to be safe. I also have ammonia alert and ph alert in the tank(ammonia .0, ph ~7). Yesterday I didn't have much to do and my tank was kind of looking dirty so I decided to do almost a full water change and clean the sand and rocks well. I took my fish out and put them in my 20gal that I use at a quarantine tank with a bubbler because I didn't have a filter to use at that time. I'd say it took maybe two hours total. I rearranged some decorations and I didn't clean the filters or anything because I didn't want to mess with water quality too much. I used seachem prime to dechlorinate. The water was the same temperature when I put them in the tank. They've been resting on the bottom ever since. My black moor has gotten up I twice today but my fantail hasn't really moved at all. I just don't know what I could have done to cause them to do this so any suggestions or advice would really be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2020 07:44 PM PDT Hello hello, I am setting up a new 45 gallon tank right now and have two Aquaclear 70 HOB filters while it cycles. My current tank has a SunSun 704B, and I recently purchased this sponge filter along with the Tetra Whisper 60 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KS1Y1JN/ I was wondering if the SunSun 704B + two of these Aquaneat (I'd have to buy one more) would be enough filtration + oxygen. In the 704B, I have some Seachem Matrix and Eheim Substrat Pro. If those are enough to run the tank, I'd prefer to get rid of the Aquaclear as they are so loud. If I need more biological filtration, would 2 of these + the SunSun work? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2020 12:18 PM PDT So I've been thinking about getting into the hobby of goldfish keeping but I'm not entirely sure. I've had a few small tropical aquariums (like 50 liters) but I've always had a lot of trouble/bad luck with those even with a lot of water changes and stuff. Partly because of inexperience I think. But I love goldfish. They are so cute and tame and I love how they look. I've just been holding off on getting them because I don't have the funds for a giant aquarium. But recently I've been seeing people using these kiddy pool type things as a goldfish pond and I actually really like the idea. However I'm a bit worried on how I would do water changes on them because they are quite low so draining water with a tube would be difficult and doing it by hand with buckets seems like a lot of dragging around? So I was wondering how people do that. Any other advice for a beginner would also be welcome as I'm not fully certain yet if I should go for it or not. Edit: I want them to grow as big and chunky as possible :p [link] [comments]
Little help for our first fish baby Posted: 06 Apr 2020 05:10 AM PDT Hey!! We recently got a couple of little Ranchu's and have noticed one of them has a little red patch on of the fins just above it's bum. Hopefully I'm just over reacting a little bit and he's fine as I just can't find any kind of information anywhere to help me find out if there's anything wrong. They swim around just fine and have been eating as normal and was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the same sort of thing? I'd try and get a picture but he's a wiggly little bugger and it's proving a little difficult. Any help is appreciated! And if you need more information I'll try my best to describe or get a photo! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
