First mystery snails-how often do I feed them?

Posted: 14 Apr 2020 02:05 PM PDT

I recently got two beautiful snails. My tank is fully cycled but does not have a huge algae or excess food supply. Their only other tank mate is a betta who is absolutely not interested in them at all. I have read about what to feed mystery snails and have even made some homemade snello with what I happened to have in the pantry at home. I have been feeding them every other day to avoid fouling the water but they eat everything completely up and I want to make sure I am feeding them enough. I don't want anyone starving but I don't know if they are like fish and beg for food all the time...thanks for any advice!

MY RAMSHORNS ARE FINALLY COMING BACK

Posted: 14 Apr 2020 03:28 PM PDT

I had a hellish infestation of mini ramshorns a while ago so I bought a small assassin snail to take care of them. I hear people complain that they get assassin snails and then get infested with them, but honestly, in 5 months my tiny little whelk massacred almost my entire community of them. So in reality one alone seems to do the trick haha

I had to give him to a friend because I started having major algae issues, and it's been about 5 months since. I very rarely saw a ramshorn anywhere in the tank. In fact I even ended up throwing in a bunch of pond snails, and they died unexpectedly.

I just looked in my tank and I can see a bunch of baby snails on the glass now! I'M SO HAPPY! ALGAE BE GONE!

I'm moving everything into a 20g long soon so I'm really happy I have a snail community to help he the cycle started!

New to the hobby - fish pairing?

We are getting our first freshwater planted tank set up and in a month hope to get a pair of nerites. I was going to get a few tetras as well, but are they okay tank companions? Hardy fish recommendations to go along with nerites?
