My choncky boys from my dorm room are in luck, schools closed due to covid, so they get to move from their aquarium into the pond

Temporary tank for my goldies because my big 110 gallon tank decided to have a leak, so I’m not sure what I’m gonna do in terms of resealing it or whatever.

My (mutated/hybrid) goldfish (more in comments)

One of my goldfish who is almost 2 years old is suddenly showing signs did swim bladder disease. I’ve never had this happen and I don’t know what to do?

I feel awful for her because it sees obvious she's having buoyancy issues. She's trying really hard to swim down but keep floating up. Any advice?

I feel horrible because i cant get this right and my fish's health is visibly deteriorating, and with the current pandemic situation, im afraid my local pet store will be closed soon. Im sorry for my childlike obnoxiousness.

I followed the advice from my last post and got sea chem prime to use as my conditioner from now on and the results seem to have hurt my tank more than anything. I did not get any plants, they were completely unavailable and my HOB filter will be removed after/if this situation gets fixed.

I did a small (10/15%) water change 2 days ago using prime- stuff smells horrid- and i saw no change in his behavior or the nitrate levels in the tank. This afternoon i did a 30% water change using prime as his nitrate levels remained consistently high. Its been 5 hours and it seems he is declining in condition. Im afraid i didnt add enough prime or too much, its extremely hard to measure the amount for a five gallon bucket of water. The tank water seems to have also adopted a slight sulfer smell from the prime (did i add too much?) I immediatly checked his water and the relevant readings are as follows:

Ammonia - 0.5ppm (drastic spike!) Nitrate -40/80ppm (yes still. It seems to be leaning towards 40 but the colors are damn near the same) Ph -7.2

I read online that prime can decrease oxygen in the water so im heading out right now to buy an air pump. I have a battery operated one on right now and he seems to have slightly perked up (its unclear if this was due to the increased oxygen or if its just the noise). His dorsal fin is still being kept mostly down- very unusual behavior for him before this ordeal, and the red blotch is not improving.

I cant find a definate answer on what to do in this situation. Some sources say i should just dose my entire tank with prime, but im not about to dose my tank with chemicals without a solid answer. Obviously its recommended to do a water change but how much is too much given ive already done a rather large one today?

Any advice is appreciated- and just fyi- plants are not an option at this moment.

Is there something wrong with my fish? (Had him for 3 weeks, changed their water yesterday, noticed him twitching about half an hour ago)

Goldfish bottom sitting for over a week

Goldfish is hugely bloated

Posted: 17 Mar 2020 01:06 PM PDT

I have a ranchu goldfish who I noticed had some white fungus on him. I started treating the tank with malachite green and the next day I noticed he was bloated. Today he is hugely bloated, rounder than my pearlscale, and he's starting to bottom sit.

His scales are all laying down smoothly, no redness or discoloration. Poops looked like normal fish poop yesterday. Vent isn't distended.

There's 4 fancy goldies in a 75g tank. Water parameters before the 60% water change last night were ammonia 0.25, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate. Temp is 68°.

What can I do for him besides fast him? He's my favorite goldie. :(

Eta I just asked my mom to pick up some aquarium salt on the way home.

He died. Less then 24 hours from being noticably bloated, and about 6 hours since he started bottom sitting. He blew up even bigger before he died. :(
