Sad to say my main man has finally passed just after his 23rd bday :( hopefully he’ll find the other silverdollars from his group up in fishy heaven (all 6survived 18+ years, but sadly he was the last one remaining)

A clip showing two of my favourite male guppies: the dark blue one and the one with the spotted orange and yellow tail. Big, chonky boys.

Pygmy sunfish. I’ve kept them for years and bred them easily in small planted tanks. Does anyone else keep them?

My new desk 3 gal tank is pretty foggy. Any suggestions on how to help it clear up? It’s been set up for a little over two weeks now. All that’s in it is a nerite snail. I tested the ammonia last Friday and it registered under 0.25ppm.

Ten gallon a couple months ago vs same tank right now. I think I’ve learned a couple things!

Newish to Reddit. Thought "standard" goldfish don't get enough love. Here's Vince, rescued him from a carnival about two years ago, a little over 9 inches now.

New pet (just my luck)

Story time. Happened a few months ago. Went to my LFS and they had a pistol shrimp on for $15, so I decided to pick it up. When the guy went to net it it ran into a rock. He picked it up and was trying to get it to come out. After a few seconds he just said he'd just give me the rock for free.

So great, I take it home, float it for 15min then transfer into another container to acclimate. Didn't set up a drip acclimation because for some reason I wanted more work.. Started adding half a cup from the tank every five minutes and repeated for an hour because I didn't want to take any chances. Shrimp still hadn't come out so I moved the rock into my tank. Had the lights off to help with any stress. After a couple days I still hadn't seen the shrimp. Waited a few more days(still hadn't seen it), decided to go to the store for some fish food. Walked up to the tank where I got the shrimp and written on it: "pistol shrimp - hold for Nick"

TLDR: Thought I bought a pistol shrimp but I just bought a rock and acclimated it for over an hour.. at least it entered the tank completely stress free!
