Is the API ammonia test too sensitive Posted: 21 Feb 2020 03:38 PM PST So after chasing the source of ammonia for the last week I finally decided to control test my tap water which is also coming back low positive for ammonia (0.25 ppm) all other water parameters are WNL. When I first got the kit then tap came back at 0.0. PH is stable at 6.5, I have a new sponge filter running(added after I first started testing and coming up with consistent 0.25) in addition to a HOB so plenty of air and water displacement on the surface. Filters are free of debris. This is a planted tank with several types of grasses, minimal algae , decreased feeds and did 2- 50% water changes. I admit my cleaning of the tubes could be better. After some reading online looks like other people have had this problem with some suggesting decreasing the amount of drops of either bottle 1 or 2 by a certain amount. I've had tanks before but never did water checks other than when I randomly brought a sample to petco. So long winded way of asking, anyone else have this problem? [link] [comments] | ||

DayDream Planning: Stocking Question Posted: 21 Feb 2020 02:56 PM PST I've got a low and long 3 gallon tank i want to get super invested in the planting of, low tech though because of limited space. I'm thinking of stocking with a scarlet badis, and maybe a tiny harem of 2-3 females. The girls are so tiny, and with the plants I think there'd be plenty of room for them all to have personal space. And maybe some tiny shrimp types..? Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
