Culling help

Posted: 18 Feb 2020 04:51 PM PST

Hello beautiful goldfish lovers, I recently just had a lot of fry hatch, too many. Like way too many. Right now I have around 70 fry in around a 20 gallon tank, I want to know your thoughts on culling. Obviously I would use clove oil. What should I be looking for? Some of them are a lot bigger and healthier than others. I'm just curious if you have any suggestions or videos that would be really helpful for me through this process

Looking for photos of very mild cotton fungus on goldfish.

Posted: 18 Feb 2020 01:49 PM PST

I have three fancy goldfish in a 55g aquarium. Don't even ask about my params, I've been slacking. Because of that I believe I'm seeing traces of ammonia burn, and also perhaps very early traces of cotton on one of my fish. I am working on water quality, and with that I expect to see a lot of this clear up in time. While I am not proud, it's really very mild. However I'm a bit concerned about what looks like early "cotton" maybe. I hesitate to post here because I believe many might think it looks like ich, but I am fairly certain it is fungus. I don't think I could get a high enough quality picture to show it, as it is so fine in detail. I will try and if I can, I will post it in the comments.

the only reason i'm really not positive is because i can't find a good picture from a good source of what early fungus/body rot/cotton wool looks like. so that's what I was hoping to ask for; if anyone had any photos of early or developing cotton or cotton wool fungus or anything similar, so that I could try to diagnose it and research it myself. I so appreciate any advice and comments, and can try and describe it more if requested.

thank you so much. and sorry if i sound defensive in tone, ive been a lurker in these communities for years and i know how the comments can be. i'm just embarrassed.

Can you keep goldfish in a food safe plastic tub? It’s just for a little while I’m upgrading their tanks form a 10gallon to a 20gallon and eventually a 75gallon but I want them upgraded now I was wondering if it’s food safe could I keep the goldfish in there for a few weeks until my new tank arrives

There's gap between the brace and part of the tank wall as the sealant has worn down. What should I do?

House move: traveling with a goldfish

Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:17 AM PST

Hi, i'm looking for a bit of advice on whether it will be possible to move my goldfish with us when we move. We are emigrating from Manchester, UK to Budapest, Hungary. I have one long tail goldfish who is very well cared for, with a large aquarium tank just for him. I adopted him from someone who had kept him in a tiny travel container, not much bigger than a margarine tub for at least 6 months. So my thoughts are that he is quite a hardy little goldfish. I've had him for 2 & 1/2 years since then and he's thrived but despite his huge tank, he hasn't shown any noticeable growth so I think he's just permanently stunted. I'm reluctant to give him up as I don't know anyone who would take him and if I were to find someone, I wouldn't trust them to look after him properly or to not overfill the tank with more fish.

Is there any way to transport an aquarium fish across Europe? I've looked online but can't find any info about this. Any experience or advice is welcomed.

Is cloudy water normal?

Posted: 18 Feb 2020 05:08 AM PST

I have a 20 gallon tank with one oranda and 3 mystery snails. I have only had them for 3 weeks now. Last week I fed them spinach for the first time and the water became cloudy and hasn't cleared yet. I did a 50% water change yesterday which helped a little but the water is still cloudy. Is that normal? Should I do a 100% water change?
