Hi everyone,

I'm planning to acquire my first axolotl next month, and have begun the process of cycling my tank. It is a 30 gallon, and I'm using the steps on the website below as a guide. It indicates that seeding with ammonia can reduce the cycling period to just a week or so. Is that safe? I just want to make absolutely sure that the tank is comfortable for when I bring my new little guy home.

Say hello to Shiva, my new buddy!

Next month is my B-day so my sis got me a Axolotl as a gift! I had been wanting to raise one of this adorable amphibians for a long time. After a month of collecting parts and learning how to properly care for one my sis ambushed me this morning with this little beauty that I named Shiva!
