Blue Mexican dwarf crayfish question and water quality question Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:27 PM PST I was wondering if they could be housed with either Caridina or Neocaridina shrimp? I have heard they can and would only eat sick or already dead shrimp but I have also heard that crayfish in general are quite aggressive. Are they an exception to the norm? As for the water quality question I was wondering how to raise my PH and KH. My PH is too low for the liquid test to show and I have little to no KH in my tap water. My GH though is fairly high if I remember correctly. I would have to retest if you want specifics because I lost the sheet I wrote it down on. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:56 PM PST I'm new at taking care of crayfish and just got mine about a bit over a week ago. I noticed that he molted two days ago but he is still hiding. He did eat the molt but I'm unsure on how long until they stop hiding as much and need other food. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jan 2020 09:47 AM PST Hello everyone, some of you might remember a few days ago of the picture that I posted of my crayfish hiding behind the heater. I thought she had become more antisocial because she was about to molt which she did but she is hiding even more than before and will only come out if I entice her with food. From the few glimpses I got of her, it looks like she is carrying eggs under her tail but I have not gotten a close enough look to confirm 100%. My question is, she's in a 75 gallon tank with ample hiding places and shares it with another mini orange cray, cherry shrimp, amano shrimp, and about 20 white cloud minnows. Is there anything I could do to protect the potential younglings or will they be able to hide and grow without any interference? If you can't tell by now I'm pretty new at all this and have only had the tank for about 3 months now, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank! [link] [comments] |
