went to a house party the other night and they had a 5 gal with live plants, a heater, and a filter for their betta!! i asked the roommate about it and she said it had been fully cycled as well and ive never been more proud of someone i didnt know lol

The beginnings of a 5 Gal betta tank for my office. Still awaiting nitrification and adding some driftwood, and an 8w light tube, but its getting close! Does anyone have a recommended critter to clean the tank? Thx

My betta passed away. He was my first fish. I needed to share this with you guys.
After a few days of having him and heavy collaboration we decided to name him! Everyone meet Vulcan!
The wild Betta imbellis a species that can be found in the south of thailand in marsh like habitats with millions of plant life that offers filtration and clean water. This fish is one of the many species thats from the splenden complex which is where your domesticated bettas originated from.

Quick synopsis of caresheet:

Minimum tank size is 5 gallons (about 20 liters) for a regular sized betta, and 10 gallons (about 40 liters) for a king/giant betta
Bettas need an adjustable heater and a thermometer to ensure water temperature stays between 78-82°F or about 26-28°C
Bettas need a cycled tank- this requires a filter
Bettas need silk or live plants and hidey holes with no sharp edges.
Bettas have a special organ, the labyrinth organ, allowing them to breathe air. They require constant access to air at the top of the tank.
Bettas will jump- it is best to have a tank with a lid
