Snail questions?

Can I get your opinions on keeping a couple of snails in with my axolotl? I'd make sure they were too big to be swallowed. It's mainly to contribute to a clean tank, and to help keep away algae. Is it a good idea?

High PH concerns

My recently-cycled 29 gallon tank for a pair of axolotls has, for some reason, a PH of about 8. All that's in the tank is a bubble bar, three silk plants with rock clusters I glued together with silicone (that set for 24 hours before adding to the tank) and a piece of Mopani driftwood. My other tank is at 7.5 PH.

The four fish I used to cycle the tank did recently pass away after I added the driftwood, but I believe that was due to a lack of oxygen as I accidentally raised the water level above the filter output.

has anyone used the C2 power filter from fluval? my aqua clear i have has caused me so many problems i'm looking to replace it with the fluval one. so has anyone used it? did you like it? thanks in advance!!
