I know axolotls like low to no light, but this tank is top dark for plants. Could I put some light in this, this light is enough or there are plants that can thrive in this light level?

HELP biting behaviour

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 01:53 AM PST

So just a few days ago. I got my axie a tankmate. My axie doesn't eat as frequently, they told me this one did.So I hoped his eating behavior would improve with a chonky tankmate. Both are male and around the same length (around 20 cm) There weren't any females in the pet store. So the new chonky one hides a lot. He still seems to be shy. But also very gluttonous. When he was in his cave two days ago he bit towards him.Now this can just be territorial. However this morning I already fed him two worms. One smaller and one bigger. But when I started feeding my other axie he was watching me do it and staring at him.So I thought I'd wait to see what happens.Suddenly he tried to bite him twice. Now I still have the receipt. Should I just return him?Because I don't think these are good signs. There's also a lot of space like A meter and 40 cm.Or do you think the chonky one is still a little stressed?

Update: Just saw the chonky one biting at Daryll's tail without provocation. He was the one heading behind him. He even had another worm before that.

Question from a new axolotl owner.

Is there any thing I can put in the bottom of my tank other than fine sand? I don't like watching my little guy slip around all over the place but I know pebbles can just fly right in their mouth. I just want him to have a little more traction as he looks like he's struggling.

Any advice for cleaning an old tank? I found a used one on sale and was wondering the best way to clean it out without using harmful chemicals
