Euthanization: When do you know? Posted: 18 Jan 2020 06:07 PM PST A few days ago I made this post asking for advice on the condition on my pair of Nerites. Basically, they have been purposefully flipping themselves over on their backs, repeatedly, in a position where they can't get back up on their own. They've stopped moving and just sit, upside, with their foot out. Several times a day I have to reach in the tank and flip them over, but they always end up upside down again after about 30min to an hour. They are about 3/4ths of an inch, so I guess they are just getting old. Their condition has only worsened since I noticed the issue four days ago and since I made the first post two days ago. I think it's safe to say their quality of life isn't very good right now. How do I know when, if at all, to euthanize them? What is the most human way of doing it? I really really don't want to squish them. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jan 2020 09:00 PM PST Hi there, new snail mom here. We have a golden Inca snail, mystery snail, and just got a rabbit snail. I'm a little bit confused. Our 2 other snails are living the life and so active. We have a rabbit snail that was the most active member of the tank for the first week and now he's at the bottom of the tank half out of his shell but when we touch him he goes back in. Last night I took him out and put him in a Tupperware with some water to see if he would come out and he came out and was acting normal, sucking on the walls of the container. Today we changed the water and he was acting normal while we were getting the tank ready, again in a plastic Tupperware with the same water that's in the tank. Now he's in the tank and not moving again. Can someone explain this to me?? It's so frustrating! [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jan 2020 03:19 PM PST I have had a few mysteries since October. One just started laying eggs last week and she laid a second clutch (?) today. No eggs from October-December. I have a couple questions: 1) What would cause my snails to suddenly start procreating after all of this time? They have been in the same tank since October and this is the first time they've started doing this. 2) Can my snail lay too many eggs? Are 2 clutches 5 days apart too frequent? Should I separate her from the guys? Thanks! Sorry for the formatting, I'm on mobile and I hope this doesn't turn into a block of text. [link] [comments]
