My first ecosphere! Contains freshwater, sand/coarse pea gravel one leaf and a small patch of moss. I already saw a sign of life with a little flappydoodle worm zipping around.

Plant, water, and substrate questions

Hello. I'm looking to start my first jarrarium! I've always been interested in self sustaining ecosystems. I'm thinking about using guppy grass, moneywart, Cabomba caroliniana, and water sprite. Are these ok to use together? Is lake water safe to put these in? And what substrate should I use for these? I wanted to set it up and let it cycle through and then put shrimp and a nerite in later. I'm not very knowledgeable with these things so any help/advice is greatly appreciated. I've tried to do my own research but I wanted to ask before I acted.
