Looking for suggestions on set up

Posted: 29 Sep 2019 10:46 PM PDT

Hey going to be moving soon, so thought I'd take the chance to upgrade my baby's set up, as of now we have a barrel hide that is also a bubbler, a reptile hide, 2 moss balls and a small anibias plant that has large smooth stones over the roots since we have a bare bottom tank. And just got a water cooler. Looking for suggestions, like more plants, hides and should we do a bubble wall/bubble stones that people use in aquariums, any suggestions are welcome

Help!! Worm Infestation in Axolotl Tank

Posted: 29 Sep 2019 06:59 PM PDT

Basically this started when I tried to purchase another Axolotl. She was too small to put in with my other Axolotl so I kept her in a 6 gallon tank. One day I noticed SMALL white worms on the glass. After some googling, I THINK they are detritus worms. According to google they are harmless, so I left them in knowing I would be changing her to a new, worm-free , tank anyway.

Later I moved her in with my other axolotl (there was/still is a divider between them. I dumped her old water out.

After some time I noticed the same worms in my original tank, so they must have moved over somehow. I didn't really care because everyone I would clean the tank their seemed to be less worms, plus you couldn't really see them.

Honesty I completely forgot about the worms until one day I was feeding my axolotls and saw their was MANY MORE WORMS. They had clearly reproduced and they weren't small anymore. Some of them are quite long. I also noticed a lot were on the glass, right outside of the water, in some sort of a line. I took a picture but I don't know how to upload to reddit. I also noticed some very small, fast moving, bug looking things in the water. I have no idea what those are.

Anyway, I have some questions.

Are those actually detritus, or am I wrong?

How much bigger will they get?

Are they dangerous, in any way, to my axolotls?

Can they survive out of water? For example, if I spilt some aquarium water on my carpet would they die or live in my floor?

Are they dangerous to humans in anyway? Should I be careful when doing water changes?

Of course, how do I actually get rid of them for good?

Thank you!!
