Dr Tim's One and Only- added late? Posted: 24 Sep 2019 02:41 AM PDT I added Dr Tim's ammonium chloride last night to my tank to start cycling it. I have Dr Tim's one and only arriving on Friday. Am I okay to add it to the tank when it arrives? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 10:23 PM PDT Hello! I'm hoping to get my first axolotl here in a few months but something I'm still not entirely sure on is how exactly to cycle axolotl tanks or what exactly it means? I've been trying to find solid information on how exactly to do it but I haven't had much luck. I know you're supposed to let it cycle for about a month before you put your first axolotl in (at least I believe this is true but please correct me if I'm wrong). Does this just mean running the filter and such as if there is an axolotl in the tank or what? This would be my first aquatic pet so sorry if this is all really beginner and basic stuff [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2019 06:18 PM PDT Why does my axolotl swim like crazy when no one is looking?! I'll walk by the room and she'll be doing flips and swimming all around. But the minute I enter, she stops and just sits still. It's so bizarre! I can be as quiet as possible, but she still just goes limp and sinks to the bottom. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 02:03 PM PDT Recently I've bought some ghost shrimp for my axolotl as there was only one left in his tanks and as luck might have it one of the ones I bought is pregnant is there anything I can do to help make sure the eggs are laid and hatch [link] [comments]
axolotl keeps trying to bite his tail Posted: 23 Sep 2019 12:55 PM PDT So here's the situation. I got an axolotl about a couple weeks ago and on the pet store's recommendation, got a 6 small feeder fish for the tank. Over the past 4 days or so he's eaten two of them and today he's been twisting around while he swims like he's chasing his tail trying to bite it and it's making me nervous. He's doing it in a very violent looking way, but he still spends most of his time chilling or walking around the bottom of the tank. I've seen this tail-biting/chasing behavior could be a sign of a parasite and I'm worried he got one from one of the fish he ate. I've also seen that this kind of tail-chasing can be just a normal activity for them, so I'm wondering if I should be worried or not. [link] [comments] |
