Baby sitting this guy for someone while they are on holiday. It's offspring from one of my pairings. Raised for four months kinda wishing I kept it now.

This sub is full of so much great advice, but don't forget that taking it to a vet is always the best option!

Posted: 27 Sep 2019 06:16 PM PDT

i love this subreddit- seeing all your lotls and tank setups and it's always great to hear advice and suggestions from people who love lotls like i do.

But one thing that upsets me about this board is that when someone's axolotl is in a critical condition, very rarely will someone suggest taking it to a vet. Instead, things like fridging will be suggested (which vets say isnt effective at all) or other obscure solutions that do more harm than good.

I know that not everyone can afford a vet or you may not live near a vet that does axolotls, but if you can and do, that's the best chance of making sure your lotl is safe! I would just hate for anyone to accidentally kill their lotl by taking dodgy advice!

Looking for a somewhat lighter color axanthic or possibly mel to house with my girls. Sub adult unsexable or adult female. Nice gills a plus! Possible purple as well. Does not have to be breeding quality. USA.

Axolotl refuses to eat anything but bloodworms!

Posted: 27 Sep 2019 06:32 PM PDT

My tiny boi, Tater, refuses to eat anything but frozen bloodworm cubes. Occasionally we can get him interested in pellets or worms but there are nights where the only thing he wants are bloodworms. I know that's not enough nutrition for him and he's super skinny. He shares the tank with another axolotl named Kirby but they are split by a divider and Kirby eats EVERYTHING. How can we get Tater interested in food like his chonky roommate?

Decoration advice

Posted: 27 Sep 2019 10:05 PM PDT

I've seen around the pet stores theres tons of decorations, and one i've always wanted is a soft rubber anenomy that moves around in the water, is it axolotl safe or will it accidentally think its worms?

Just wanna make sure before getting one, to get the perfect setup!
