Posted: 19 Sep 2019 07:39 AM PDT I read somewhere that you can't have magnetic (metallic) substrate for an axolotl tank, is this true? Why is this? [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Sep 2019 08:39 PM PDT I'm about to go out and purchase a 20-long aquarium for my baby, but aquarium stands at the pet shop cost $100+ and I was wondering if anyone has any cheaper alternatives they've used? Obviously if it's for the good of my pet I'll just go ahead and buy it, but if I can use something else that wouldn't be so pricey that would be awesome. [link] [comments]

I think my axolotl is seriously ill. Posted: 18 Sep 2019 04:50 PM PDT First, he was too full to eat for about a week and I kept seeing diarrhea all over the tank, but he was otherwise acting normal. Now today he wanted to eat but he was spitting out all the food until I gave him some mini bloodworms, which he ate happily. Sometimes he is a picky eater and he does seem to process food a lot more slowly than my other axolotl. Here's where it gets much worse, though. I noticed that his gills shrunk and just today he was moving around like the bottom half of him was paralyzed. His tail was completely bent and his body was very bent, too, and to the same side. Right now he's on his hammock and looks normal, though. I don't know what's going on. [link] [comments]
