Aquatic Koi My current pond |
- My current pond
- Piranhas
- Bowled up my favorite Sanke yesterday, impressive growth for its first season!
- Finishing one season with Ultima 2 filter, UV, and tetra pump in custom rock prefilter. Only maintenance is feeding the fish!
- I've never had a koi grow this fast, doubled its size in 3 months! This guy is a tank and eats like a pig.
- Can anyone tell my which type koi I have? Thanks
- New to koi, pond with all new fish who don’t seem interested in food.

New to koi, pond with all new fish who don’t seem interested in food. Posted: 18 Sep 2019 10:45 AM PDT I recently bought a house with a 1000 gallon koi pond. The previous owner clogged his gravity feed filter and drained his pond a week or so before we took possession and killed all his fish, so when we got the keys he had just put five new koi in it instead. They're all in the 5-6 inch range except one that is maybe 7-8. They've been in there around 3-4 weeks now and are still just hiding all the time. I still haven't managed to get one to come out when I've tried to feed them. As soon as they see me they hid, and they also hide if I throw any food in. If I do put food in it just sinks to the bottom and mucks things up. I'm also having a problem with string algae and am treating it with algae fix. The pond gets a lot of sun and it has been very hot there lately and it's been out of control. I'm treating every three days. Luckily the water is clear and has no unusual readings with the api kit. Is it possible they're just eating algae and that's enough for them? I'm worried that they're so uninterested in food or even coming out. The brand the seller left was Kaytee Koi's Choice food. The only time I see them is at night with a flashlight. Any advice is welcomed! [link] [comments] |
