- Baby axolotl swimming
- Bad quality due to the groove in the box. Here is Fury. She came to us in an awful way, she had been nibbled on in places and was depressed. Her gills had 0 fluff and one of them has actually scarred over. Today she is eating like a pig, and she has some fluff! Today she’s moving to her new tank!

My axy passed away - how can I make sure this doesn't happen again? Posted: 31 Jul 2019 07:52 PM PDT I'm heartbroken :( Kippers started getting sick last Tuesday when we noticed him swimming erratically and acting as though he needed to cough something up or something. When I got up in the morning he had clearly been doing it all night, so I made plans to fridge him and did so Wednesday night. He kept passing white 'mucus' sometimes with tiny bits of sand and his cloaca was extremely swollen, but the entire time he didn't look visible stressed other than he kept turning on his back and side. He seemed active yesterday morning and the swelling had completely subsided when I went to put him back in his tank, and I floated the Tupperware on the top like I had read to, but he just went downhill after that and stopped moving. Other possible clues: He did appear to be a bit swollen as well, but he never felt hard to the touch. I did move him with my hands, but always washed them and rinsed very well before and after. I treated the water with Prime. The tank parameters in his water were totally normal, ammonia/nitrite zero, nitrate between 20 and 40. There was an infestation of bladder snails in his tank, but I'm doing my best to remove them. I also got rid of the sand in the tank because I don't want to take any chances. We fed him frozen bloodworms and the sinking pellets we got from his breeder - we got a set of bloodworms that seemed 'weird' but we threw them away, he may have eaten some though. Any advice would be great, we want to get another as soon as possible so we don't need to recycle the tank but I wanted to know if anyone had had a similar issue and what it was so we could be proactive. How can I clear up cloudy water? Posted: 31 Jul 2019 01:04 PM PDT I have a new tank, it has been filled for about 4 days. The water has always been pretty cloudy and I read that can be normal in the beginning as it adjusts. I use a normal water treatment, and just got some water clarity drops and it's not looking any different. I did about 1/5 water change to try and get some new water in but haven't seen any improvement, if anything it's gotten worse since I have been trying to make it better. Any tips of suggestions for this? [link] [comments] |
