My very surprised black moor (please excuse the dirty glass!)

I’m not sure if you can see it, but one of the Black Moors has a white spot on its right side. It kind of looks like a scale is missing? What’s wrong with it? :(

Swim bladder help

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 07:41 PM PDT

I have 3 (from what I can tell) fantail goldfish in a tank together. I got them from a party where someone was using them as decor in bowls. They came from Walmart and I've had them for 4 months with absolutely no issues. After doing a 1/2 water change today, one of my fish has started showing symptoms of swim bladder disorder. I read online about checking the water temp and it is 70F which is ok per the article I read. The other suggested treatment of holding food for 2-3 days then feeding them peas is my next step. My main question is, is it ok to withhold food from the other two and feed them peas as well? I don't have a separate tank to keep the symptomatic fish in. The internet says that the other fish will be fine without eating for 2-3 days, but I would really feel better if I got confirmation from you guys.

Weird behavior

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 07:35 PM PDT

Disclaimer: I have 1 common goldfish and 1 Shubunkin in a 10 gallon tank. I am getting a larger tank soon, but for the moment this is what I have and it doesn't seem to have been a problem before.

Anyway, my fish have been doing great until they were getting a little sluggish the other day so I did a 100% water change (with conditioners added to the new water) and now the Shubunkin is doing very well like usual but my Common has started floating in a corner at the surface at a 45 degree angle, occasionally touching the surface but not really gasping around or anything. He'll swim around for a minute occasionally and then go back to floating in the corner for hours.

Obviously with the new water he shouldn't be suffocating and the Shubunkin is perfectly fine but this behavior only started within the last week so I'm confused as to what could be wrong.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Do goldfish get lonely?

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:00 PM PDT

I have had a 30 gallon tank for some time now and I finally took the time to set it up. I put in a 50 gallon filter, a thermometer (consistently 70°), a heater, some large river pebbles, a couple fake bamboo plants and a buddha decoration with an air stone.

I only have one fancy goldfish but I'm getting nervous that he may get lonely. Should I keep it as is or could I add a friend for him?

Thanks for all your help!

A few days ago I posted a picture of my goldfish (Ian). A lot of users here said that the tank was too small and that the fish would keep growing. After asking a friend for advice, we actually found out he has a goldfish pond. So we're going to give ian to said friend so ian can have a prosperous life :)

That being said, my bf is sad to let ian go. He grew an attachment to him after saving it from his brother's bucket. He is interested in a fish but something more 10 gallon tank friendly? Any leads?

Reputable breeders! (Preferably in Northeast/NYC area)

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 12:16 PM PDT

Hello all! Can someone recommend me a goldfish breeder? A plus if they're in the NYC Metro area so there's a possibility for pick up. One of my tanks shattered and I lost my beloved ranchu. Not necessarily looking for a ranchu but would love to get another one at some point. That being said, my local pet store isn't sure when they will have ranchus in stock again, so I want to see what other options I have. Thanks :)

Are those white markings on his fins normal?

I'm visiting my mom at the moment and realized that her water gets brownish even after I changed it?

Mr Furley is getting to be relentless. She’s laying eggs every week. You can see two different ages of babies in the background. Any advice on holding him back? I’m afraid he’s going to hurt her. Temp in tank is 75.4 degrees. Would cooling the water help?

Filter options.

I currently have a aquaone hF400 (not great) and im upgrading it to a fluval C3, my question is should i keep both filters and run them both? Or once the fluval is cycled in get rid of the HF-400 and run a bio sponge and just the fluval?

Need some advice!

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 03:32 AM PDT

So, since moving loads of goldfish out of my giant tank leaving around 20, things have been a bit weird. I have a feeling I've had a little cycle crash, which seems weird to me as there's SO many less fish now, but maybe that caused a sudden change in the tank, I don't know. I have around 0.25ppm ammonia and 0.25ppm nitrite, yikes. I'm just about to do a water change, and I'll be dosing the tank with bottled bacteria. However, the fish have all started randomly darting around and hitting themselves on the floor / decorations. My mind's gone straight to flukes... One of the goldfish I gave to the shop I didn't mean to, so 3 days after giving them the fish, I went back and got the fish back and returned it to its tank, which looking back could've been a stupid move. The shop is amazing and I would be surprised if this is the case, but could that one goldfish have picked up flukes that quickly? Alternatively, could the rise in ammonia cause flashing like this? I do have some ParaGuard that I can start putting in the tank as a precaution. Really I'm just looking for some opinions on what's happening and if what I plan to do is the right thing. Thank you all!

Hi once again, experiencing some issues with a goldfish and I’m worried. Please help!

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:43 AM PDT

Quick background: I posted yesterday about our murky aquarium with 6 goldfish. It is my mother's tank and she bought the fish for stupid reasons, without knowing how to care for them. The aquarium's care and fishes lives have now fallen upon me. I, do not know anything about aquariums or fish, as I've only had cats my entire life. People mentioned the 20 gallon tank is much too small. Tomorrow we are going to purchase a larger one.

Anyway, today I was home and I noticed one of the Black Moor goldfish at the bottom of the tank. He/she does swim around sort of and sometimes goes to the top but for the most part stays at the bottom. It's the only one doing this. I moved the fish to a separate container and fed him a bit. But it only searches for food at the bottom of the container and seldom goes up to the top. I read it could possibly be stressed. What can I do?

I don't want any of these fish to die because of lack of knowledge. I'm just super stressed that 1. She bought them without knowledge 2. I have three other pets and now 6 goldfish to care for, for which I don't have any experience

I just wanna make sure the lil buddy will be okay, how can I help
