Crayfish argh, aquarium leak during first suction water change |
argh, aquarium leak during first suction water change Posted: 02 Jun 2019 01:59 PM PDT We have been having some problems getting our new crayfish tank to cycle. I got a marina easy clean rock vacuum and during the first clean, somehow created a leak in the aquarium. I had a hard time getting the suction to start - diagram shows moving the tube up and down vertically to get it going but the tank is only 10 gallons. Maybe when i moved the tube into the rocks it broke the seal around the edge? I've emptied most of the water and now it's just hanging out in the couple inches left - that will leak out eventually. This crayfish came to us from my son's school classroom assignment and as the mom that's playing catch-up on crayfish care post-facto, I am worn out. At the same time, when that crayfish was happy and hanging on his underwater log eating an algae pellet like an ice cream cone, I was an admiring pet owner. Next step is what?...let the cray hang in a bucket with a little pool (as they did in the classroom) to hang out in while I fix it? Buy a new aquarium and let it cycle before I put it back? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
