Sonic has finally stopped constantly chasing his reflection and he is also starting to follow his feeding schedule. I caught him slithering through all my plants this morning hunting after baby ghost shrimp, I think it safe to say that he's fully settled into his forever home :').

My betta passed away and I just want to talk about it

I used to have 9 bettas now 8. I went to petco in January and I saw the most beautiful betta I have seen. It was an opal betta. Just white and I thought it was beautiful and just had to have one right away so I got a 5g tank along with some decorations. First of all at this point I was really new to this hobby so I didnt know how to choose the right betta like how to tell their age or if they are healthy bc I trusted the petstore to have healthy bettas. When I brought him home I named him Opal cause I am not the creative with names and really like the way opal sounded. I got him a modern decoration u know the one with squares stacked up, and he loved that thing he would go in and out of all the holes and barley hid in his cave. I noticed his eyes were cloudy. I looked it up and said it was bc he was a little old. At this point yes I could've return him to petco and get a new one or got my $20 back but I fell in love with this betta. Opal passed away on Monday and I really miss him. I am not angry with anybody just sad and I feel better when I can just vent to some people who understand.

Finally upgraded my 5 gal to a 10 gal. Aside from needing a tank stand so I don’t slowly destroy the book shelf it’s on now, I think I’m finally happy with the amount of space my boy has.

My boys jungle is a constant work in progress (ps how do I plant carpeting seeds. As you can see some of them made it but I honestly thought they would sink they all mostly floated though)

Look at how much he's colored up! I also posted this on r/aquariums so I'm sorry if anyone's already seen it.
