| Anybody used Metrex Metricide instead of excel to kill algae? Posted: 11 May 2019 02:18 AM PDT I heard from several people in the hobby that they use Metricide instead of excel as an algaecide because it is more concentrated and cheaper. If anyone has used it before in a shrimp tank, did it impact the shrimps at all? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 10 May 2019 05:02 PM PDT Problem: my shrimp are dying! They slowly become lethargic for a few days, and then they die. Two of them have died (one blue one, one red one). The blue one was especially sad because she was berried. Deets: I've had this 2.5 gal tank for two years. It has held a successful red cherry shrimp colony for 2-3 months. Recently, I added three blue shrimp and four yellow ones, as well as anacharis, and replaced the gravel substrate with white resin sand. The plants in the tank constitute of two anubias, two marimo moss balls, a clump of java moss, and a few strands of anacharis, which I've left floating at the surface. The tank is generally at 70-80 F (Near the heater, the water is 80 F, and at the outer edges, the water is 70 F). I feed them Hikari Shrimp Cuisine and algae wafers, once or twice a week. One or two days before the shrimp die, they become really slow and lethargic, clinging on the moss ball. After they die, they quickly start to disintegrate. What could be causing this? I don't want to lose more shrimp. [link] [comments] | ||
