Active substrate for CRS

Posted: 13 May 2019 01:20 AM PDT

Hello very new too the hobby. I have started cycling my first tank. I was hoping to breed CRS but a relative told me i needed ada amazonia as an active substrate to keep the ph down. I have a gravel and was hoping the tannin in the driftwood would do the trick. Any advice?

Shrimp care and advice?

Posted: 12 May 2019 06:52 PM PDT

Hey y'all! Absolute beginner shrimp keeper here and I really like shrimp but I've never had them before. However I'm setting up either a 2.5 or 5 gallon (I'm still unsure) planted tank for my betta Mr Fahrenheit and wanted to add some shrimp. I really don't know anything about them though so I'm going to do some research and It'd be really helpful if one of you would give me a run down on their care. I want crystal shrimp but idk if that's a good choice for a beginner. My lfs also has cherry and ghost shrimp so I could consider those. But yeah, I'd really appreciate some help!

TL,DR; can anyone tell me anything there is to know about shrimp and also which would be better for a beginner, crystal, cherry, or ghost shrimp? Thanks!

How do you treat a shrimp bacterial infection?? I'm trying hydrogen peroxide but I'm not sure if it's working.
